So, lately there seems to be quite a bit on the news with videos being captured of police hitting civilians. What I find interesting about these moments captured is what is the whole story? What was that civilian doing to provoke an assault? Why did the police feel that hitting back was the answer?
What people need to remember that a police officer is an armed service member. They might not be wearing the battle dress uniform of the military, but they are armed service members. They have taken an oath to protect the lives of our citizens and in order to do so, they are armed.
Most civilians wouldn't think to attack a military member due to the assumption that they armed, so my question is this... Why would you attack an armed police officer?
Now, by no means am I saying that an officer should react with assault, there are always other means of handling the situation. Citizens remember, police officers are there to protect and serve but don't attack them!
