a new toy!

So, I have completed 1 week of INSANITY workouts! Yeah, one step at a time. I'm really good at completing things one week at a time, so next week will be a push for me. I feel better every day, I am lifting my spirits by really looking to the Lord and doing something good for my soul and body.

I am enjoying my day off today and I am not looking forward to another day of work tomorrow, sad I know. Well I am excited about the eagerness that I feel about trying to develop my personal relationship with the Lord, I am also excited that I'm getting up every morning at 0445 and doing my workouts. I am also balancing without killing myself afternoon swims, runs or cycling. My plan is to build the ability to workout twice a day and hard without killing myself. I tried a few times last week but I wasn't successful everyday, my body was telling me that I need to take it slow and build toward a better fitness day.

Today I completed my workout, made a yummy low calorie high protein strawberry and banana smoothie. I think I might have found a different way to reduce calories but getting the much needed protein in daily. I am also happy to note that my daily water intake has doubled! This is a huge deal for me, I have learned not to drink water. Too many years in the field and deployed with no resources to relieve oneself in combat, around all men have taught me to drink minimally. I know a really bad habit.

So to help me with the excitement that has been bubbling in me for the past 2 weeks, I got a new toy! I got a new iPOD nano, in pink of course! I have ordered a watch strap for my nano so I can sport it as a useful watch and MP3 player! I am so excited!

I hope everyone is having a great day as I am!

INSANITY

So this week, I decided along with my husband that we are going to do the INSANITY workout. We ordered it, it arrived on Tuesday afternoon and we dug in.

The weather here has been horrible and the snow has caused the gym to be closed too often which has been destroying our training plans. The answer we thought would be INSANITY for 60 days. By the time we are finish with this training program the weather will be better and hitting the gym daily won't be an issue.

The first couple of workouts have been tough, there are a lot of jumping moves to keep your heart rate elevated. I have been struggling with these moves. I also run and swim so digging really deep into INSANITY is tough. I am sure by next week after my body has gotten use to being punished 2 or 3 times a day the workouts will get better. I have 57 more days left!

I'm excited and I'm excited that I finally have worked in lunch time swims. I really can't swim, but I'm doing drills so I don't freak out. Tri season is about to open and I'm excited. I can't wait for a few races this summer, we'll see how I do.

I am also very happy that today is FRI! Since MON is a holiday I get 3 days off from work! WOOHOO!! I can hardly wait for the weekend! Too bad I'll spend most of it doing taxes!

Well, hope you all are well and having a good one!

A new focus

Hello everyone! I hope everyone's training has been going well so far this year. Its been a minute since I last posted anything. I tried to stick to my idea of what this year's fitness regime would be, but it got totally derailed!

The good news, my workouts got derailed because I got a new boss. She is awesome but anytime you bring in someone new you have to adjust to their demands, wants and vision. I think I have an idea now!

The other great new is, fitness is important to her as well, so I have been given permission to leave to workout! Yippy!

The other new is, this past weekend my husband and I went on a church retreat. It was really great and something that we truly needed. We met some awesome people from our church and had a great time. The best thing that happened this weekend was how I realized that my focus needs to change. I realized that in order to have the life I want, I must completely surrender to God.

I am excited and I can't wait for the transformation to begin not only with me physically but spiritually as well.

This week kicks off week 1 of my half marathon training plan. I am signed up for a half in May. We'll see how it goes, hopefully this run will be better than the last race this past October.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Moving along

Yesterday I have to say was a great day. I was very productive at work and was able to leave the office a little early to workout. I met my running group to begin day 1 of my half marathon training plan. It was only 3 miles and it was very slow! I realized as I hit mile 1 that I hadn't ran since Thanksgiving! I pretty much took time off from running after my half marathon in October, my knees pretty much called it quits.

Although the run was slow, it was great to get out and just move. After my 3 miles, I hit the gym for about 20 minutes and did some light all over body weights. I figured light and from head to toe would be a great break in. I felt a little sore this morning waking up but I felt better.

I'll be hitting the gym after work today and I'll do a SealFit work out of the day! I'll follow it up with a light 30 minute spin on my cycle trainer at home.

Oh yeah! My dad has been deployed to Iraq for the past 3.5 years. He has worked with KBR and a security company. I will say he took these jobs because the pay is higher, but only because times hit my folks hard. His hard work overseas has only gotten my parents out of the black but they are still in the red. It breaks my heart that my folks work so hard and have nothing for retirement. Anyways, my dad is finally taking a vacation! He will come to visit me next month! I am so excited! My sister might even come up from Georgia so we can have a mini family reunion.

I am thankful for all the blessings in my life. I am so thankful that I have all of my needs met and than some. The Army is a tough life and we are asked to sacrifice a lot, but I wouldn't trade a day! I love everything that I have accomplished as an officer, a person and a leader. I love that I am a part of something bigger than me. I love that with this job, I get a sense of security, I get a pay check every 2 weeks and as long God willing I will retire in 10 years.

Well off to do some work! Hope you all have a great day!
